How to Compress Pictures and Reduce PowerPoint File Size
High-resolution images in PPT can inflate file size. Quickly compress images to significantly reduce file size without compromising quality.
Microsoft PowerPoint 2019 - Windows/Mac
Go up to the Picture Tools Format tab.
Click on the Compress Pictures command.
Select your Compression options.
Select your Resolution.
Click OK.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, 2013, and 2016 - Windows
Select one of the images in the presentation; this will make the ‘Picture Tools’ option appear on the ribbon, and then click it.
Click on the ‘Compress Pictures’ icon.
Un-tick ‘Apply only to this picture.’
Select the smallest image quality to suit your requirements, for example, ‘E-mail.’
Click ‘OK’.
Save the document, and you will observe a reduction in file size (check the size reduction).
Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 - Mac
Open Your PowerPoint Presentation:
Launch PowerPoint 2016 on your Mac.
Open the presentation that contains the images you want to compress.
Select the Image:
Click on the slide containing the image you want to compress.
Go to the Format Tab:
At the top of the screen, click on the "Format" tab. This tab should be visible when you have an image selected.
Access the Compression Options:
Look for the "Compress Pictures" option. This is typically found in the "Adjust" group within the Format tab.
Configure Compression Settings:
A dialog box will appear. Here, you can choose the level of compression. PowerPoint provides options like "Use default resolution" or "High fidelity." You can also choose whether to delete cropped areas of pictures to reduce file size further.
Apply Compression:
After configuring your settings, click the "OK" or "Compress" button to apply the compression.
Save Your Presentation:
Save your presentation to keep the changes.
Compression should take just a few seconds, but processing files with many images may take a while. Once it's finished, please save the file and upload it.
Recommendation:
Ideal Resolution: In most cases, opt for 96 ppi.
Print Consideration: Unless you plan to print high-quality photos of your slides.
File Size: Choosing 96 ppi reduces file size.
On-Screen Display: There is little difference in on-screen output for slides at 220, 150, or 96 ppi.
